Taylor Freeman
Tell us a little about yourself. (Name, age, country. Just a mini Bio):
Hey everyone! My name is Taylor Freeman, I am twenty years old, and I currently live in the United States in a small town in North Carolina. I attend North Carolina Central University where I am an Apparel Design major with a concentration in Journalism. I have been fashion blogging for seven years, yes...seven years! I don't plan on stopping any time soon.
What inspires your love for fashion?
My love for fashion comes from watching my mother coordinate clothing as I grew up and from different types of films and music. I am highly inspired by styles from the past decades, specifically the 90's and the 70's. Plus, I like to take little bits and pieces of style from different films. I really study a character's style when I'm watching movies.
Why did you join Lookbook?
I joined Lookbook to be a part of a community of other fashion lovers. It was one of the first websites I joined to share my fashion, aside from my blog. I don't update it as much as I used to back when I first joined because so much has changed about the website and things are becoming quite biased, but it still is a great site nonetheless.
When creating an outfit what would you look at first?
I look at the pattern or color of the certain piece I'm wearing and then I decide what mood I want the outfit to be in. I also may look at what shoes I'm wearing first also.
Is color/pattern coordinating a big deal for you, or do you just go with whatever?
It's only a big deal when I want it to be, but other than that I try to mix and match.
What would you say your "fashion experience" was?
I wouldn't say I'm any more experienced than the next person because I'm gaining more and more knowledge each day. I would just say that I've learned a lot more about how the fashion and garment industry works through classes I have taken at my university.
Do you consider yourself a fashionista of sorts? Why?
Of course I do. I consider myself to be a fashionista because I am able to display my thoughts, ideas, and emotions through my clothing, while staying true to who I am.
When creating an outfit do you prefer staying simple or going a little wild?
This really depends on my mood. Some days I'll wear a simple outfit and some days I will go all out and have fun with it!
With your talents where do you think you will be in ten years?
I see myself either being a personal stylist for the stars or working with a huge fashion magazine company, such as Vogue. I plan to be a creative director and writer at whatever magazine I work for and I also want to open up a fashion school for underprivileged youth. I want to do a little of everything!
What does fashion means to you?
Fashion means being bold, taking risks, and not caring what other people have to say about you. I learned this through high school because I was constantly teased on what I chose to wear and I learned how to just be myself and keep people talking. Fashion has no set rules or regulations. Just be yourself.
How would you describe your style?
I would describe my style as always changing -- I can go from dressing dark, to be androgynous, to being girly. I don't have a set style -- I think that's a little boring.
